Thanksgiving is a special time for us as we recognize it as the only truly American Christian Holiday.
In this picture, we see the site of the first official Thanksgiving Celebration in 1619.
There was a requirement in the charter of the settlement that landed here that they have a day
commemorating their thanks to God for the safe voyage from England upon arriving.
There is a certain affection for the one held in Plymouth, MA, a couple of years later, since that was a matter
concerning the intent of the settlers, and not the Company that financed them, but we cannot say
for certain that the earlier event was not the prompting for those Christian Pilgrims to do so.
